Artist Statement
My practice explores the fundamental inability of the individual to truly encounter others, or even themselves. Our attempts at connection are mediated by linguistic and social illusions, rendering them fickle and uncertain. I use self-portraiture and dream-like imagery to navigate this paradox, often depicting the human figure as a fragile vessel enclosed within these very constructs.
Working across oil and watercolor painting, video art, and performance, my concepts emerge from a conflicted relationship with my own body, the environment, and the society that demands hollow submission. My art is an invitation to see yourself as you really are: both the one who suffers and the one who causes suffering. My practice urges you to reflect on the boundary
between the authentic and the illusory.
